The Kenyan government has issued a fresh warning to citizens about fraudulent job offers from overseas that target Kenyans seeking employment abroad. Officials say several individuals have recently fallen victim to schemes that promise high-paying work but deliver nothing, sometimes leaving job seekers stranded in foreign countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), urged Kenyans to always verify job offers through accredited recruitment agencies before making travel arrangements or payments. Citizens are also advised to check the Ministry’s official list of approved employment partners to avoid falling prey to scammers.
A spokesperson for the Ministry said, “Our priority is the safety and well-being of Kenyan citizens. We advise anyone approached with overseas employment offers to exercise caution and report suspicious activities to the authorities immediately.”
This warning follows a series of incidents in which Kenyans were recruited for positions abroad under false pretences, highlighting the continued threat posed by fraudulent recruitment networks.
Authorities are working closely with embassies and international partners to prevent exploitation and to ensure the protection of Kenyan nationals abroad
